hey there! i'm vela. i'm twenty two and i'm one of the admins here on obituary. i was the one who came up with the concept for the site, because i have way too much time on my hands and not much else to spend it on. i have a hermit crab named delsin and i spend half my time watching law and order. if you need me feel free to send me a pm or find me on skype or aim @ dipstcks!
welcome to obituary! register your name (first and last) in all lowercase. we are a rapidfire shipper-app site site set in the united states following a viral outbreak. it is currently march, 2015, and fairly cold outside. the majority of survivors should be dressed as warmly as possible and find some sort of shelter to sleep in besides a tent due to high winds at night. if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact one of the admins via either private message or instant message.

because we didn't want to purchase one right off! if the site does well for at least a month (which is only three weeks) then we'll purchase a premium cbox. or if you guys absolutely cannot stand it, we'll consider it <3
if you read the site lore, it says 'january' - the site is fluid time, which means that it's currently the same month in the roleplay as it is in real life! of course, the board itself goes in eastern standard time, but the plot is progressing in the nevada timezone. hopefully that can answer your question!
we aren’t limiting what abilities characters can have, but certain ones (higher level - empathic mimicry, ability learning, ability replication, other abilities deemed extremely or all-powerful) will work on a REWARDS SYSTEM OF SORTS, if that’s even the right term.
short answer? no. you can play someone who gets infected, but eventually they will die and turn, and will have to be killed off or left to rot. you won't be able to play them anymore. if we were going to go into complicated territory, there are abilities that yes, would technically allow you to play a zombie, but we're talking literal zombies in the roleplay, and the answer to that is no.
short answer here is yes. you can, but we're putting some limits on it because we don't want six hundred member created groups running around and no characters being made for the current ones. there are SEVEN spots for membergroups on the site. four of those are currently taken. which means there are THREE open spots for new groups. if you wish to create a group, you can check HERE for the guidelines.
yes. a character can be immune to the virus. however, we're limiting this to characters whose abilities allow immunity, and not some kind of gene or otherwise earned immunity. you cannot work your way towards immunity. if your character doesn't have healing or another ability that allows them to keep from being infected, they are able to be infected, end of story. however, this shouldn't be a problem since it's your character and nobody is going to make them get infected without your permission.
at this point in time, cell phone towers are still up and running, thanks to help from people with electricity or energy-based abilities. service is faulty, and most people prefer the reliability of walkie-talkies, but cell phones are still in use for the time being. however, they only work in las vegas and the immediate vicinity. cross-coastal phone calls never seem to go through.
both of the main camps, as well as various buildings throughout the city are running on generators. at times, they will even switch to full power, depending on the situation and abilities of those around them. most of the time, however, back-up lights, refrigeration, and air conditioning are the only forms of power that are used. water is also still turned on in many buildings, thankfully, making showering and washing clothes possible for survivors who can find the right place.
